Description
Bei den Vitae Pomeranorum handelt es sich um eine umfassende Sammlung von Personalschriften des 16. bis 18. Jahrhunderts in der Universitätsbibliothek Greifswald. Die Herzog August Bibliothek als norddeutsches Kompetenzzentrum für Alte Drucke katalogisiert die Werke als Kooperationspartner, die Digitalisierung erfolgt in der UB Greifswald. Das Projekt läuft in der Finanzierung durch die Agnes-Lohmann-Stiftung (Emmerthal). Personalschriften sind Werke, die zu besonderen persönlichen Anlässen wie Hochzeit, Taufe, Geburtstag und Tod ebenso wie zu beruflichen oder akademischen Gelegenheiten und Jubiläen gedruckt wurden. Im Regelfall entstand nur eine geringe Auflage für die Festgemeinde und damit gelangten die Drucke auch häufig nicht in öffentliche Sammlungen. Heute gelten sie als seltene Quellen für die genealogische, personen- und regionalgeschichtliche Forschung wie auch für die Buch- und Literaturgeschichte, da sie neben biografischen Angaben und Predigten auch literarische Beiträge wie etwa Epicedien enthalten können. Die Greifswalder Sammlung bezieht sich auf Personen und Familien aus Pommern, Mecklenburg und Schweden. Sie enthält 171 Drucke aus dem 16. Jahrhundert, 5.531 aus dem 17. und 2.986 aus dem 18. Jahrhundert. Mit jeweils weit mehr als 4.000 Titeln dominieren deutsche und lateinische Werke, in schwedischer Sprache liegen 228 und in französischer Sprache 9 Titel vor.
